The Marek Times

Last day in SoCal. I’m kind of sad about that especially since the weather network says the high tomorrow is 6 in Calgary. I think it’s going to be a bit of a shock! It’s been over 30 here every day I think.

We spent the day at the beach today. It was lovely – nicer beach than yesterday and we had more time to enjoy it. And I only burnt a little.

I don’t have any pictures again today. They’re all on the actual camera. I’ll have to sort through them.

Anyway off to Canmore tomorrow for Thanksgiving. Can’t wait to see everyone.

Big day today. We left San Diego, went to the beach, checked into our new hotel and swam in the pool, and went to the Halloween party at Disneyland. We’re all pretty tired.

Tomorrow is our last day in southern California. Mike wants to go to the “sandy beach” again. We also need to repack all of our stuff so we can bring it home!

Off to bed now.

Today we went to the zoo but it was so hot we left around 2. It felt like we were going to melt into the sidewalk. So we checked out the museums in Balboa Park. At least they were air conditioned. There was an air and space museum which Mike slept through and an automotive museum.

At super we were that annoying family with the loud crazy children. So embarrassing. Mike freaked out and refused to get out of his stroller. Oh well we managed the melt down as best we could and tried to pretend he was someone else’s kid.

Off to Newport Beach tomorrow and back to Disneyland for the Halloween party. Should be fun!

Today was better. Mikey had a blast at Seaworld and so did Ben. The rides were fun and seeing all the marine life was super cool. Mike loved the penguins and the dolphins and the turtles and the killer whales and …

I burnt again but the boys are good. I’m not sure how I’m burning with 60 SPF on (yes, I’m reapplying), but for some reason, I’m becoming more of a redneck by the day. Oh well.

We checked out of the Disneyland Hotel and headed off to Legoland today. Legoland rides almost all require that riders be at least 34 inches tall. Mike is only 33, so he couldn’t ride much. That was really disappointing especially since most of the rides were less intense than the ones at Disney. But Ben had fun and overall it was ok. It was crazy hot though!

So now we’re in San Diego for the next three nights. Gonna be fun!

Today was our last day at California Adventure. We spent lots of time in Carsland, enjoyed the only Starbucks in the resort and checked out the Hollywood section. We came back to the hotel in the afternoon to enjoy the pool during the mid day heat and then went back to the park for supper and to see Carsland after dark. It was so cool!

Mikey seems to be feeling a bit better. The sun is soooooo hot, it seems weird to think anyone could catch a cold. Anyway, off to San Diego tomorrow.

I think I’ve finally beat my crack berry addiction! I haven’t had access to my blackberry in 3 whole days now. And I don’t even miss it. Much.

Mikey didn’t nap much today and didn’t eat much either. I’m a bit worried that he’s getting a cold. And it didn’t help that when we went to the pool he got so cold he was shaking and had blue lips. Its tough though because he LOVES swimming. I wish he could stay warm.

Ben is getting good at the roller coasters. He’s so funny – he screams the whole time but it’s kind of mixed with laughter. It’s hilarious.

We had supper at Goofy’s kitchen tonight. So yummy and got to meet lots of characters. Mike still doesn’t like the chipmunks. I think he thinks they’re just way too big for chipmunks.

I’m sooooo tired! It was such a fun day though. The highlight was definitely Ben getting picked to do Jedi training. He was awesome! He bravely fought Darth Maul and looked like a pro. The guy who played Darth Maul was awesome. He scared the pants off poor Mike.

Mike had lots of fun driving cars and rockets. He giggled the whole way around in his car threatening to crash into anything and everything.

The only less than perfect moment was when I got peed on at the fancy restaurant at supper. Mikey’s diaper somehow leaked. My leg got soaked which would have been ok if I’d ordered off the menu but wouldn’t you know it, I went for the buffet. I had to walk around with a huge wet spot. Oh well.

We had a great flight – the plane was half empty so we had lots of room. Mike slept an hour or so which was nice too.

Got to Disneyland no problem in our fabulous rental minivan. That thing has tons of room!

Mike was very excited to go see Mater and ride the rides. He didn’t sleep all afternoon but he did great. More rides tomorrow!
